Description

A delicious bread stuffing made with cubed bread, vegetables, and seasonings.


Ingredients

  • 10 cups cubed bread (day-old or lightly toasted)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 34 celery stalks, diced
  • 23 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken broth (more as needed)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried sage
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Prep the bread: Spread bread cubes on a baking sheet and toast at 300°F (150°C) until dry (about 20 minutes).
  2. Cook the vegetables: In a large skillet, melt butter. Add onion, celery, and garlic. Cook until soft, 8–10 minutes.
  3. Season: Stir in sage, thyme, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  4. Combine: In a large bowl, mix bread cubes with the cooked vegetables.
  5. Moisten: Pour chicken broth over the mixture and toss until evenly absorbed.
  6. Bind: Stir in beaten eggs.
  7. Bake: Transfer to a greased baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35–45 minutes, until golden and set.

Notes

  • This stuffing can be made a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
